Keyword
Excavator Review
This is a new product on ClickBank for
keyword research. I will tell you up front that
I really like this product.
Here is why...
Pros
- Uses Latent Semantic
Indexing
- Has proven results for me.
- Offers comprehensive
"real world" actionable data.
- It's retrieves data fast.
- It works every
time I use it.
- Support has been excellent.
Cons
- Currently does not show
number of searches for
keyword.
- Possibly just
slightly difficult for a newbie to
install.
- May seem pricey to a
newbie or the cash
strapped.
Ok that's the quick and
dirty. Read below for the complete
review.

Installation.
Installation was straightforward. You will need to
create a my Sql database, if you don't know how a quick google
search will give you plenty of tutorials. It's not hard at all.
Don't quote me on this but I am quite sure they have
installations videos available.
The key
feature.
Unlike many keyword research tools this one uses
Latent Semantic Indexing. I do not know how they
do it but it works and LSI is the way google is indexing, in
fact google has a patent pending on this technology.
Here is a short description of LSI:
Regular keyword searches approach a document collection
with a kind of accountant mentality: a document contains a
given word or it doesn't, with no middle ground. We create
a result set by looking through each document in turn for
certain keywords and phrases, tossing aside any documents
that don't contain them, and ordering the rest based on
some ranking system. Each document stands alone in
judgement before the search algorithm - there is no
interdependence of any kind between documents, which are
evaluated solely on their contents.
Latent semantic indexing adds an important
step to the document indexing process. In addition to
recording which keywords a document contains, the method
examines the document collection as a whole, to see which
other documents contain some of those same words. LSI
considers documents that have many words in common to be
semantically close, and ones with few words in common to be
semantically distant. This simple method correlates
surprisingly well with how a human being, looking at
content, might classify a document collection. Although the
LSI algorithm doesn't understand anything about what the
words mean, the patterns it notices can make it seem
astonishingly intelligent.
You can read the full theory of LSI here >

The results returned by Keyword Excavator using LSI technology
are simply ahead of the game in comparison to other keyword
research tools.
To test it I created a review site in a highly
competitive niche. using the data provided by KE (keyword
excavator) my site was indexed and on the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 8th
page of google for some very competitive keywords in
72 hours. 10 days later they are still there. This
was without using unique content, simply doing some
basic seo in the page title and h1, h2 tags for the keyword
data.
I happened upon the url where the guys at the
Thirty Day
Challenge are using this software. These
fellows Ed Dale Dan Raines are big time niche
marketer's - some of them on the faculty staff of
Stompernet & Run The Immediate Edge (google them).
You can bet this is some hot property if they are
looking at it.
A few
highlights:
The
data returned in a search includes single, tow word, three
word, and four word pairs for the top 50 to 150
search phrases.
You
can export these in a variety of ways with one click. Super
handy for meta keywords, descriptions or adwords
campaigns.
The
top competitors for the keywords are listed. You can even
analyze a single url or article, great for competitive analysis
or bum marketer's.
A
bonus to me at least is being able to provide such
comprehensive data to website clients in addition to applying
it to their sites, great for website designer/developers/seo
managers.
See
the site for a complete list of features.
What's
Missing:
The number of
searches for keywords is not included in the data. You can get
it for free with many free keyword tools or at Wordtracker but
I would like to see it included. The developer says this will
be included in a future update. I don't find it necessary
except for cases of very long-tail
keywords.
A forgotten
password function at the login. You do get instructions on how
to look at your config file and retrieve it but a forgotten
password function would be nice.
The
bottom line:
At the
price point this tool is a steal. I have paid more
for less including some monthly memberships. Any hiccups
in the software are promptly fixed with easy updates
built in.
For
me it has simply become a necessary tool in developing
niche sites for myself or
clients.
Keyword
research is absolutely necessary to succeed in niche
marketing whether for your own product, as an affiliate
or site builder.
Just like
Camtasia or Screen Flow is necessary for tutorials I find
this software a necessary addition to any arsenal of
keyword/niche research.
I
highly recommend it. Visit the site here

Excavator.
Take
care,
Tom
